Apple’s finally embraced Intel’s 10th-gen processors on its 13 inch MacBook Pro, but just how much can it add over the competition - Even from Apple itself?

  • What would the expectations be around video conferencing/ screen sharing? Does this require high amounts of multithreaded capabilities? What stress does video conferencing in general put on a computer

  • I seriously dont understand it the macbook pro base price is 1300$. the higher MacBook air (with no add ons is 1300 $) and it gives you more SSD 10gen core against 8gen, DDR4x against DDR3 and Is lighter. the only thing the pro model has is the touch bar and better speakers is the pro model worth it???

  • Are cooling pads/fans bad for laptops? I saw someone say that it can blow dust/particles into the laptops vents but it definitely keeps the machine at a cooler temperature. Does anyone know about this? I have a MacBook pro 13”

  • Linus, I don't understand why you've sold out and are now pushing Apple products. We're talking about a company that introduced the mouse to the computer in 1983 with the Lisa, and 37 years later they still haven't clued in to the absolutely superior usefulness and convenience of a mouse having not less than two, with three plus a scroll wheel being the minimum in common use in the rest of the computing world. I don't hate Macs, in fact I like them, but I can't love them because Apple makes some frankly ridiculous choices in the features they choose to offer its customers.

  • Added this comment using my new MBP 13" (base model) and YES it does gets hot! it is not overheating tho, but for a short term of time and only using photoshop the palm rest gets uncomfortably hot :( Running with a single fan, you barely hear its sound and get you anxious if it is working or not.

  • Those Intel CPUs run way too hot... wait for those Apple Silicon Macs and high CPU temperatures will be a thing of the past. Bye Intel.

  • Would this laptop in the lower version (lowest processor, GB, RAM, etc.), be okay to launch Blender, (3D programming system)? My friend uses a MacBook Air 2018 to work on Blender and she says it works amazing so shouldn’t the 2020 version be okay, or even better? I did hear that it can get kind of hot when launching heavy programs but I assume that it would be okay if there was only one tab open. Also, I don’t play heavy games but does anyone know if it can launch roblox without much lag? Please answer all these questions I’m very confused.

  • This is Apple’s focused “coder” machine. You only need relatively short bursts of full performance while compiling. Unless you’re compiling millions of lines of code - in which case you’re using a genuine workstation. This is not a video editing, autocad or similar visual heavy workload tool. Wasn’t built for that purpose.... or gaming either...

  • My wife's been using macbook pro 2020 13'' for long enough now to vouch for it getting super hot, like unpleasantly hot. It does have fans but it's very shy of using them, I was told Mac Fan Control app solves this problem entirely so gonna try that out. It's really the only issue on this otherwise fantastic device but it's a serious one if you plan on using this thing while travelling.

  • I’m planning to purchase the Macbook pro 13 2020 base model but I'm hesitating a little. as a social media manager, I use Canva a lot and have many tabs open when I’m doing research for content, with music (spotify/youtube) playing in the background. So I was wondering if these daily activities would affect the temperature too much?

  • The fully maxed out 13 in pro should be a small well ventilated machine suited for mobile rendering and graphics. But it’s not and after using it for premier, photoshop and illustrator, I just couldn’t grow to like it. It’s just not worth the price and Linus is right, it really does double up as a toaster when it’s processing for more than a minute. Sad...

  • the fact that the Air sits at 100C throughout the test is just sad considering it only really needs to cool like 10-15Watts of power
